There are so many unique experiences in China. The country is so large, and so diverse, it really is like a whole collection of worlds in one. When itinerary planning for a China journey, you can shape any kind of experience that you want, it’s up to you.

For most people, they are happy to stick to the safety of standard tour-book experiences and the well developed, and well known major attractions, such as anything Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau or a even Yangzte River boat cruise. The slightly more adventurous will fit in Xi’an and the Terracotta Army, Chengdu Panda Base and so on. Taipa Island Macau

Taipa Island is joined to Macau by three bridges being the Sai Van Bridge, Macau Taipa Bridge and the Friendship Bridge. Tapai and Coloane where once separate islands, but the two are have been joined as one land mass due to the land reclamation and formation of Cotai. 

Taipa features a university, ferry terminal, Macau International Airport, the Macau Jockey Club along with a mix of old casinos and new casinos. There’s also several temples and a church in the area including Pou Tai Un Temple, Small Kun Yam Temple, Tin Hau Temple, Sam Po Temple, Pak Tai Temple, Four-faced Buddha, Church of Our Lady of Carmel where tourists are welcome. read more

Coloane – The Sleepy Side of Macau

To get my bearings, and get a feel for Macau, I jumped on a local bus, Macau isn’t that big and after a quick look at the map either bus number 26 or 15 looks to cover a fair amount of area and buses are cheap!

I caught bus number 26, which ends up doing a pretty big trip around Macau including Macau central, Taipa, through Cotai and Coloane. The bus gets a little packed as it moves around bus stops in central Macau, but as it heads to Cotai and down to Coloane its more relaxed, and my 1 hour or so sight-seeing Macua from the bus cost a whole 6MOP (less than $1AUD!). read more
