Accommodation in Lijiang: Sleepy Inn Lijiang

The Sleepy Inn is located in Shuhe Ancient Town which is a short taxi ride away from the more famous part of Lijiang being the ‘Old Town’. Don’t let this put you off though, as Shuhe Ancient Town feels much more authentic than the Old Town and it’s much more relaxed.

The Sleepy Inn is in a traditional ancient style Chinese building featuring two levels and a courtyard. It doesn’t feel like you are staying in a backpackers or a hostel, or a hotel for that matter, this place feels like a home.  It has real warmth and charm.

And you don’t have to rough it either, the bathroom looks newly renovated featuring a modern shower and basin, the bathroom shelves are stocked with all your needs including new toothbrushes, shampoo, soap and much more.

The room and the whole place are immaculately clean. And the big bed, wow, it’s one of the best I have slept in, not just in China, but anywhere, 10 out 10 for the beautiful mattress, and soft doona and comfy pillows. I have stayed in some 5-star places that could learn some lessons on a bed making from this place…

But the best part about the Sleepy Inn is the service, Amanda, who speaks great English, is incredibly helpful. On several occasions when I was lost she came to my rescue! Even walking halfway across the city, in the middle of the night, to find me and help me home when I was lost! Turned out I was only 20 meters from the door!

Amanda can help out with local area knowledge, maps and where to go and what to do. Also can help out with booking flights, transport etc. etc.

I have been a long way around China now and to date, this is still one of my favorite places I have stayed in. I booked this via Hotel Club but you can also contact Amanda at the Sleepy Inn direct.
